Position: Director of Community Engagement

HOPE of East Central Illinois is dedicated to ending domestic violence by providing a wide range of services for victims and facilitating social change. We are currently seeking to fill a full-time Director of Community Engagement role within our Charleston office. Job Description:

Exempt.  Full-time position.  The Director of Engagement is responsible for increased community awareness of the domestic violence, prevention, education, identification and intervention services available to victims within the HOPE of East Central Illinois catchment area. Reports to the Executive Director.


  1. Ensures a robust training program for both the community and HOPE of ECI’s workforce
  2. Responsible for all agency-sponsored trainings including but not limited to: training of newly hired staff, interns and volunteers
  3. Handles all requests for presenters and trainings from the community by assessing their needs and locating the right presentation and presenter to meet those needs
  4. Oversees and participates in the agency’s community outreach and education events and efforts to increase awareness of the agency’s programs available to survivors
  5. Oversees the provision of education and awareness on various topics related to domestic violence, as well as promotional materials to the communities in the catchment area
  6. Collaborates directly with community partners to address the unique needs of survivors
  7. Develops a documentation system to track the success of the agency’s outreach and community education plan
  8. Reviews and updates the agency’s annual plan for outreach and community education
  9. Serves as the site supervisor for the agency’s internship and volunteer program
  10. Supervises Public Education Staff as well as agency volunteers and interns
  11. Oversees and manages all aspects of 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training for all staff, volunteers and community members
  12. In cooperation with the Director of Programs, completes necessary revisions and additions to the 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training materials
  13. Coordinates and administers trainings and in-services for staff, interns and volunteers to enhance continuous education
  14. Responsible for all aspects of maintaining the organization’s certification to provide 40-Hour training, supervision, and CEU’s through the Certified Domestic Violence Professionals Board
  15. Other duties as assigned

Scope of the Position:

The Director of Community Engagement must have the ability to create a comprehensive plan and follow through on each detail. This person must be highly organized and have excellent relationship building skills. Experience in Public Education and Communication a plus.
